Vicky Thomas
Retired/Volunteer
Vicky Thomas is a lifelong resident of Indianapolis and received her education at Indiana University-Purdue University. Now retired, Vicky’s life work included bookkeeping and accounting where she assisted small businesses and organizations to maintain their financial records. She also has been an office manager and HR administrator. Vicky attributes her interest in bookkeeping and accounting to her father who owned several restaurants. She started working on the cash register at 4 1/2 years old and by the age of 12 was preparing the taxes and maintaining the payroll. Upon his passing, Vicky took over control and operations of her father’s businesses. She continues to use her skilled talents by working in several church auxiliaries in leadership positions. Her civic participation includes years of working as a volunteer for Homes For Black Children, The Flanner House, and the Indiana Black Expo, along with serving as a Precinct Committee Person for 15 years. Vicky’s experience in interacting with government agencies, community organizations, churches, and businesses is an asset to the Hope CDC board.
